This is the best article I've seen on ARFID. Aside from the "children feel they will die if they eat something new", from my experience that is not always the case.
If you do have a child that eats a really narrow range of foods do not immediately panic though. There are many children who eat only a handful of foods who do not have ARFID.
However, having a very limited range of foods that are accepted and especially if foods are being dropped and no new ones added is cause for concern. It's definitely worth speaking to a sympathetic GP.
