Drum roll ... first new food is?
Ooh, I'm a very happy bunny this week.
I ran a session for a family on Monday. Their son is 9 1/2 and has a very selective range of foods he's comfortable with.
Standard selective fare - chippies, crackers, nuggets. No veg, no fruit.
One of the conversations we had was around what foods he was most likely to eat. And my view is that a child is as likely to eat an olive as a piece of carrot.
Was I ever proved correct. The family were at dinner last night, had some calamari ... and he tried a piece. First new food - squid!!
It wasn't his favourite thing (yet) and it was too chewy so he took it out of his mouth. But WOW, such a big step.
Part of this also of course stems from how we approach food and feeding. Getting the right language and approach in place is critically important.
Squid. Who would have thought ....
Judith is passionate about good food and is even more passionate about enabling other people to enjoy the wide variety of fresh food available today.
