I had a lovely conversation with a young mum in Adelaide, South Australia last week.
She had been gifted the book (it is a great present :) ), Creating Confident Eaters and has been working through some of the strategies.
Lola, 4 has never been a great eater and Teddy, 2 is not as competent as mum would like.
Lola is described (along with pretty much every other picky eater on the planet) as being stubborn. She is not fond of veggies or meat.
The book has "given mum a kick in the butt to be more proactive" - her words not mine! In doing this she has discovered that Lola is not as picky as she thought. This alone can be a huge relief.
Lola is eating her regular cheese pinwheels happily even though they have bacon or ham added. Plus munching on cookies containing zucchini although she knows the veg is in there.
Working on strategies when the children are still young helps to get things back on track early. It's also heaps of fun to try new things with preschoolers.
The book is aimed at 2 - 12 year olds so don't be mistaken thinking it's for toddlers. Nope, it's as useful for a child at Intermediate as one at Kindy!
Creating Confident Eaters is perfect for all ends of the eating spectrum. Whether you have a super selective eater or one that you'd just like eating a bit more variety.
Feel free to talk to me if you're not sure if it's right for you.
