On Friday night we hosted a big launch party for the guide.
It was fabulous to see so many people turn up to help us celebrate. I was delighted to meet some of the parents from the newsletter who came along too. It's lovely to put faces to names!
Jill Day, the Deputy Mayor of Wellington attended. It was so kind to have her take time out of a manic schedule pre-election to spend time with us. She also admitted she was very picky as a child. It has given her a really good understanding of how challenging the whole feeding situation can be. She took away a copy of the guide so I'll follow up for her thoughts.
Greg O'Connor our local MP also came along to show support. Knowing we are part of a greater community is a warming feeling.
Vibeke, the illustrator, is multi-talented and makes cakes on the side. I had to include a photo of the extreme cake she whipped up for the occasion. Wow, it was AMAZING! Everything aside from the gold paper is edible.
Stephane, from Cafe Breton in the city came out and worked madly creating made-to-order galettes and crepes with a variety of fillings. Luckily I managed to squeeze one in right at the end of the night :)
A big thanks to all who attended and those who sent flowers, cards and best wishes.
