When it comes to making a difference in the eating habits, patterns and confidence of our picky eating child, we are almost always the ones best placed to do this. But, we do need the tools to do so.
The internet is full of advice on everything from spaceships to risotto. Which can be a blessing. It can also be a minefield as sorting out the good from the bad can be very challenging.
I read an interesting take on feeding picky eaters the other day. It said that if we consistently serve our family veggies we are doing an awesome job, regardless of whether they eat them or not.
I'm going to agree with that for a number of reasons, and also tell you one of my favourite stories which for me is like an eating parable.
And with it often a lot of angst and stress for parents of picky eaters. Being surrounded by relatives and friends, being out of routine and often away from home can make eating considerably worse.
Traditional Christmas meals of turkey are also not usually selective child friendly!
